چکیده

A giant arachnoid cyst (63 83 11 cm) of left middle cranial fossa was found incidentally in a 3-year-old boy with head MRI examination for increased head circumference (figure 1). Surgical intervention was refused by his parents since the boy was asymptomatic, and the patient was followed up. Repeated MRI performed 2 years later revealed disappearance of the cyst, and the compressed brain tissue had significantly re-expanded (figure 2). There was no history of head trauma or stroke. The spontaneous resolution of a giant intracranial arachnoid cyst is extremely rare and the mechanism is not clear.

Symptomatic Unilateral Subdural Effusion as the First Presentation of Suprasellar Arachnoid Cyst

Background and Importance: Arachnoid cysts are benign nontumoral lesions that are usually found incidentally in brain imaging. Suprasellar Arachnoid Cysts (SSACs) are rare. They can cause hydrocephalus and increased intracranial pressure, lower cranial nerve impairment and endocrine disorder. Sometimes arachnoid cysts become complicated by subdural hematoma/hygroma.  Case Presentation: We...

Teaching neuroimages: a dangerous complication of spontaneous intracranial hypotension.

A 43-year-old man presented with a nontraumatic orthostatic headache, spatial disorientation, and visual hallucinations ("colored flames"). General and neurologic examination were normal. Turbo spin echo T2-weighted MRI showed bilateral subdural fluid collection and venous sinus engorgement (figure, A), suggesting spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH). Two subdural hematomas were also foun...

Giant Arachnoid Cyst of Interhemispheric Fissure with Bilateral Extension across Midline Presenting with Seizure after Motor Vehicle Accident: A Serious Acute Post-Traumatic Complications and Management Review

Intracranial arachnoid cyst (IHAC) is considered as rare congenital lesions. Usually the arachnoid cyst remains asymptomatic and incidentally picked -up on routine cranial imaging. Mostly, the intracranial arachnoid cyst is located in the sylvan fi ssure, cerebello-pontine angle, or suprasellar region. However, arachnoid cyst located in the interhemispheric fi ssure is regarded as extremely unc...

Intracranial hypotension secondary to spinal arachnoid cyst rupture presenting with acute severe headache: a case report

INTRODUCTION Headache is a common presenting complaint and has a wide differential diagnosis. Clinicians need to be alert to clues that may suggest an underlying secondary aetiology. We describe a novel case of headache secondary to intracranial hypotension which was precipitated by the rupture of a spinal arachnoid cyst. CASE REPORT A 51-year-old Indian female presented with sudden onset sev...
